World Food Day

Sunday 16th October 2016 is World Food Day. FAO celebrates this day each year to commemorate a meeting on 16 October 1945, when 42 countries assembled to form the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO). The meeting set the goal of eradicating world hunger and malnutrition and to effectively manage the global food system.

This year’s global World Food Day message is “Climate is changing. Food and agriculture must too.” To find out more about World Food Day, climate actions we can take and ways to spread awareness of the important link between climate change and food security, check the FAO World Food Day website.
