WA preference for local produce
A recent study from the University of Western Australia, has shown Western Australian consumers have a strong preference and willingness to purchase local foods. Based on almost 350 online surveys, it was founds consumers would prefer to buy Western Australian products such as fresh skinless chicken breasts or a fresh fruit yoghurt, even if it meant paying more. According to the researchers, a key underlying factor for this preference was the freshness, quality and taste of local foods; a good reason for local producers to support a state labelling program, such as the Buy West Eat Best campaign.
